Gilded: How did you and your spouse meet?

Alyse: We finally met in Graduate School at orientation. I recognized him at orientation
because we had both majored in the same thing at UNC-Chapel Hill and I had noticed
him walking around the building (I thought he was cute). It turns out that we had
actually swam on the same swim team throughout high school as well, so it seems
like the universe was giving us one last chance to find each other.

Gilded: What did you love most about your wedding celebration? What are some of your
favorite details or special moments?

Alyse: All of the love and support we felt from the people most important to us, and how
much fun we had!

We incorporated a lot of personal details in the ceremony
decorations which I really loved, we got married on a beautiful rug from my parent’s
home, surrounded by flowers and greenery from Richard’s grandfather’s garden and
framed by some trees from his mother’s family farm. The lace on the tables is from
his great grandmother, and all of the macramé and dream catchers my Mom made
for us.

Gilded: Did you have a honeymoon? Where did you go and what was your favorite part?

Alyse: We went to Wyoming and Montana actually! We visited the Grand Tetons and
Glacier National Park and had the most amazing time. My favorite part was this hike
that Richard insisted we go on, it ended up that the last 2 miles were in a few feet of
snow and we couldn’t really see the trail, but it ended up at this beautiful lake
surrounded by mountains and we were the only two people there. It was an
amazing experience that we will definitely never forget.

Gilded: What advice do you have for brides looking for their wedding dress?

Alyse: Trust yourself!! The dress I ended up with was the first one I picked off the rack and
the first one I tried on, and I knew it was going to be my dress.

It sounds cliché, but
you’ll know when you’ve found THE dress.
