Emily & Andrew: A Gilded Bride Story

Emily & Andrew: A Gilded Bride Story

Emily came in to Gilded six months before her wedding, armed with a positive attitude and the most infectious smile. We just knew her wedding was going to be a joyful occasion and we’d have to share it with all of you! Her dress was a little different than expected (yep, that happens!), but it fit so perfectly for her simple garden wedding. Keep scrolling to hear about her wedding (and the risks she took that turned out beautifully)!

What advice do you have for brides currently planning their wedding?

Don’t over complicate your wedding. If you don’t like something or feel comfortable with opinions… don’t take them. This is your day.

What did you love most about your wedding celebration? What are some of your favorite details or special moments?

I really loved the simplicity of our wedding decor but making it pop with the different colors. We had a morning wedding accompanied with a coffee cart and that was a hit! Some special moments that I will remember, we took communion privately and just had tears of joy every time we thought about we were actually married. My husband surprised me with a second band at the ceremony, so I now have a complete set on my ring finger.

What advice do you have for brides looking for their wedding dress?

Find something that is you but doesn’t compete with you. Allow your consultant to pick a dress that you would never try on! Hands down the best advice my best friend gave me. I was so glad I tried one on just to get it out of my system.

Before trying on dresses, what did you think your dress would look like? How does that compare to what you ended up wearing?

I thought I wanted a dress covered in pearls and long sleeves. The dress I chose is 10000x better than what I thought I wanted. It was simple but unique in its own way. I was in love with my dress.

What made you fall in love with your dress?

The material, pattern and silhouette.

What risk(s) did you take when planning? Did it pay off?

Dying my hair pink the night before, Chick-fil-A catering, and having a ceremony at a non traditional venue.
