Emily & Seth: A Gilded Bride Story

Emily & Seth: A Gilded Bride Story

Emily and Seth were married in Downtown Raleigh on the most beautiful spring day, with elegant details and our reigning favorite guest book idea. Their whole wedding was classic but fun, so it’s not a shock that Emily’s custom wedding dress had the same aesthetic. Scroll through to read about their love story (and get some inspiration)!

How did you and your spouse meet?

We met at work – Seth would tell you that I didn’t notice him for years but I had my eye on him from the moment we met! We ended up connecting at a trolley pub with coworkers after about 4 years of working together and think we both secretly knew in that moment we had met our future husband/wife. We grew closer at weekly trivia with our coworkers after that and have been honestly inseparable since!

Did you have a honeymoon? Where did you go and what was your favorite part?

Yes – we left for Italy the day after our wedding and I can’t recommend leaving for your honeymoon right after enough! It was the most special two weeks I will cherish for the rest of my life – spending 2 weeks just the two of us decompressing and exploring was amazing. Its hard to pick a favorite moment from diving in the Amalfi Coast to wine tastings in Tuscany, but it may have been finding vintage photobooths on the streets of Florence and popping in for pictures!

Before trying on dresses, what did you think your dress would look like? How does that compare to what you ended up wearing?

I thought I would end up in a full satin somewhat classic and plain dress. After trying on what felt like a million satin dresses that were kind of meh and coming to Gilded for my first appointment, they immediately recommended Anais Anette who had classic dresses with beading. We ended up combining the front and back of two dresses to have beading in the front and back with a long beaded train which I knew I wanted from the moment I laid eyes on it!

How would you describe the vibe of your wedding?

Intimate, elegant, and I really wanted to stick to neutrals with some pops of pink with our florals, and while picking out plain white tablecloths felt somewhat boring at the time I am so glad we stuck to our color scheme and original vision.

What risk(s) did you take when planning? Did it pay off?

After struggling to fit about 100 people inside while making our dinner seating chart, my mom suggested we try and eat dinner outside after flipping the ceremony space outside. While our vendor team was hesitant and warned us of the risks of a flip and dinner outside, we stuck to our vision and it absolutely paid off. I know I’m biased but I think it was one of the most perfect and beautiful wedding dinners outside in City Market downtown under the market lights.
